Here is an example of a p2 oscillator which triggers the S8 transition, found with LLS.


Searching for a 13x13 pattern centered around the 3x3 live box yielded 0 results with RLS, so this may be one of the smallest examples.

This 3c/8o partial seems to bifurcate pretty early on, but ikpx2 seems to want to extend the partial as a whole rather than extending the branches individually. Could someone take a crack at extending the first 10-12 rows of this with LSSS or LLSSS?

pretty random, but I conjecture that there exists no stable or periodic (stationary) object that cannot be hit with a glider to create debris with a larger population than the original object. for example, the block has two collisions that have a greater final population.

In addition, "copies" suggests the incorrect picture of two copy&pasted parts. In this case, two instances of the engine are in different phases relative to each other, so they aren't copies.
