I wish we could use toolbar buttons for those things. The scripts are always replied when the lack of floodfill and lines is mentioned, but they are still awkward to use:

Re: Simple stable agar, cannot find it on wiki
Yay tablecloth is fun! Awesome name since it's a repetitive pattern
The square is like table on table, except the other way, the bottom table is upside down they stand on each others legs

Re: Simple stable agar, cannot find it on wiki
It is known but it doesn't have a name I know of.
Ah ok. Maybe it deserves a name and a wiki page, after all both patterns that are simpler (like zebra stripes), and patterns that are more complex (like the onion rings), are listed in the agars section, so this one definitely fits in. E.g ...

Re: Simple stable agar, cannot find it on wiki
Onion rings are a 4n x 4n pattern for n>1 and have density 1/2, but this one is 5x5 and has density 12/25
(edit: was in response to post about onion rings which got removed)

Simple stable agar, cannot find it on wiki
While playing around I bumped into the following simple agar, a grid of squares with the following 5x5 base block:
xxxx.
x..x.
x..x.
xxxx.
.....
It's a simple pattern, but I'm unable to find this on the wiki and the life lexicon, also not under agars. Is the pattern known and if so what's its ...

Re: Golly 3.0b1
Thanks for the reply! I have a good graphics card and heavy games work fine in steam in Linux, but it's likely indeed the OpenGL change in some form anyway in that case.
About the scripts: OK, with shortcuts they might be better, didn't know that was possible. By "awkward" I meant the fact that it ...

Re: Golly 3.0b1
Nice!
One thing I noticed: comparing with 2.7 (from Archlinux AUR install), it seems drawing goes slower in 3.01b (64-bit Linux version). Using the pen tool, drawing a freehand line goes superfast in Golly 2.7, while in 3.01b there is some lag between when the mouse moves and when the pixels appear ...

WireWorldRgb
Hi,
I designed a variant of WireWorld, called WireWorldRgb, that allows more compact circuits, and allows devices that supports 3-cycle logic without introducing any delay (i.e. as fast as going through straight wire) for: any logic gate (and, or, xor, nand, ...), SR latch, wire crossing, half ...

Re: Calculator in new chip-design logic cellular automaton: LLLL
I guess I could try to add a construction arm to this concept... though it's not the main point of this ruleset, the main point is logic, CPU design, ... For the quadratic DNA per wall length: is it sufficient for it that your tape is put as a zig zag in a rectangle rather than in one long line ...

Re: Calculator in new chip-design logic cellular automaton: LLLL
Hi,
Only 6 states need to be cared about, the rest is electricity flowing through it.
The file specifucation.mc is a tutorial, you can play with it, running in golly and using cell 14 at inputs. Then components.mc is the advanced tutorial. And gol.mc has life cells, they are quite big but ...

Calculator in new chip-design logic cellular automaton: LLLL
Hello,
I geeked out a bit and made a calculator in newly designed Cellular Automaton rules for Golly. The rules are called "LLLL".
The rules allow chip-like design with logic gates. It has a lot more cell states (33) and rules than WireWorld, but is also more chip-design like.
Despite that, the ...

Re: Golly: Filling selection with a color
I see, thanks.
If I could have some suggestions for making the awesome Golly even more awesome, it would be:
-more/improved editing tools:
--fill selection with single color (as mentioned above :)) - an alternative is of course simply a rectangle drawing tool
--a FAST floodfill (the python one ...

Golly: Filling selection with a color
Hi,
When editing patterns in Golly (of a CA with more than two states), is there a way to fill the current selection with the current color?
There is a "clear" that makes it black and a "random fill" that fills it with random colors, but what about just filling it with one non-black color?
Thanks.
