Does anyone know what has happened to the 'Collodoscope.com's Modern CA - Animation Wonderland site?
I used to visit his link quite often... http://www.collidoscope.com/modernca/ but it now seems to be discontinued. I can still find links to the applet but no images whatsoever.
Thanks - Dave.

Re: Hideous oscillatory object - B3/S4567
Fair enough (and good description). The second life pattern looks good but still not as hideous as mine

Re: Hideous oscillatory object - B3/S4567
I'd rather leave as it is. I put it on the forum because I thought it was quite an unusual find. Oscillators normally have a symmetry of some kind but not this one.

Hideous oscillatory object - B3/S4567
It repeats every 6120 cycles. There is another (not shown) that has a period of over a million.
x = 68, y = 68, rule = 4567/3

Re: Help with coding examples
Thanks for all the info. I have since saved the life pattern (in MCell) as an RLE (.lif). Right clicking on the file allows me to open it in Notepad. Should be plain sailing from there.

Help with coding examples
Hi all, I can successfully copy and paste members 'code' examples but not sure how to import my own. I am using MCell and any life patterns that are saved use an '.mcl' extension.

Re: 3034 period oscillator found (alternative rules)
Hi Sphen - I used B3678/S5678 (not to be confused with Dean Hickerson's Diamoeba rule which evolves quite differently). How should I proceed with this as I am new to this site - thanks.

3034 period oscillator found (alternative rules)
I discovered a 3034 period oscillator in 1997 but didn't know it at the time. Those were the days when I was using Al Hensel's excellent Life 1.06 program. Could it be the largest to date?
