048/235/6
The Generations ruleset S048/B235/6 has very interesting global properties. One cell input is preserved as floating debris and spaceship generation is easy and rapid. Check it out!

Re: Why is this forum so Dead?
We still aren't using Gifs. We still aren't using images. We still aren't discussing deeper, nonsurface aspects of GOL and its universality. I care about unlocking the mysteries of the CA world, I'm just looking for curious fanatics like me to ask me questions. I've been reading about and designing ...

Re: Thread For Your Own Principles of CA
My principle is about the cross-examination of CA rules through geometric shapes inputted into CA environments. A few things I do are nesting circles, squares and diamonds with radii/side lengths of {2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1028...}(powers of 2) or {3,8,18,38,78,158,318,638,1278...}(2n+2 ...

Re: Why is this forum so Dead?
I fear any further ranting is going wasted on such a sterile forum, but I pray to a god of no understanding that some of the people here are not just bugcatchers or eccentric mathematicians but honest poets and great dreamers and fair artists. We aren't making a beginning-to-end atlas of every ...

Does this forum support images?
Rules can be made with the Von Neumann neighborhood, birth rule B2, that never escape square limits on the alive cells. In this picture, I did just this:

Re: Why is this forum so Dead?
First, every thread on this forum is about a specific topic; discussion and interpretation are always sectioned away into their individual thread, with the individuals covering a few points apiece. General discussion is dead. I'd love to talk about the larger topics on CA like the classification of ...

Re: Why is this forum so Dead?
This forum is missing the images of your CA. The pictures that do get posted are missing the spectrums of colors built into CA that mesmerize me and keep me running computer time. I would expect to see some gifs of new life and environments with a wealth of rules and I'm disappointed. Life is about ...

Re: The CA community annoys me
I'd be in favor of adding better drawing tools in golly. Particularly diagonal lines. Although, it should be noted that rectangles can already be drawn easily in golly with the invert script or by changing "random fill" to 100%. What is it that you find easier about mcell's rule system? No one has ...

Re: The CA community annoys me
I've been using MCell for longer than Golly, and I find that it's more useful for an artistic approach to making CA patterns. The line tool has a built-in fractions function, large squares and circles can be rapidly produced to explore larger simple inputs. The rule input interface is far, far more ...

Non-Life Weighted Generations rules
These are some interesting rules from MCell's Weighted Generations.
WtfAngle - a 1/2 dimension CA, occupying primarily one axis of the grid and reactive to nearly any input in interesting, swirling displays. Best with 256 generations.
